What is Brisbane Gang Show?

Brisbane Gang Show has been performing for 63 years and is one of the longest running consecutive Gang Shows in the world. The Show is a theatrical, musical revue organised by The Scout Association of Australia, Queensland Branch Inc.

For Scouting, Gang Show is a specific training activity. The Show concentrates particularly on providing specialist training in the theatrical arts activities, just as another section of Scouting might provide specialist training in air activities, rock climbing or water activities. When one thinks of the range of activities involved in the theatre - acting, singing, dancing, stage management, set construction, scenery and costume design, orchestras and choirs, lighting, audio, make-up, to name just a few - the training role of the Show becomes clear. Many members of the Gang Show have found that the skills learned in the Show have led to lifetime hobbies in areas related to the performing arts. Others have gone on to notable professional careers in film and television, and on the stage, as a direct result of their involvement in Gang Shows.

If you are prepared to demonstrate your commitment to the Scout/Girl Guide Promise and Law and have a talent for dancing, acting, playing an instrument, singing or perhaps you just enjoy being on stage, then you may like to apply for Cast in 2014. There are also opportunities to work in one of the many support areas or play in the orchestra.
